Nashville artists 24., Ron Obasi, and Jordan Xx come together to bring us “Hennybito”. The title alone is interesting. What is Hennybito? I can never tell if I’m behind on cultural vernacular. I love the groove in the drums. Is there a term for only having one snare per bar? 24.’s voice is unique. I almost mistook her for JID. I really appreciate the story she’s telling on this first verse. It’s a short stay. I feel like there was so much more left out. Fresh off of listening to Notes on a Scale II, Ron Obasi’s voice is undeniable. Following the motif that 24. laid in the verse prior; looking for a way to come up on some money while “scouting for the police”. Jordan Xx doubles triples down on this theme: “I’m tempted to drop out/put seven golds all in my mouth”. Three solid verses; a collective effort that could have only been brought to fruition in the same studio setting. This is evidenced in the closing audio recording where they are going over the hook and the word “hennybito”. It doesn’t help with clarifying the meaning of the word. So it still leaves me to wonder. Unfortunately, 24. doesn’t have more music available to stream but this is a solid start to what I hope is a more sought out music endeavor.

While we wait, you can follow 24. on Twitter, Instagram, and Soundcloud.

Hennybito is available to stream on Apple Music.
